Insight to Foresight

Focuses on goal setting and achieving your potential. a workshop that provides our students with the opportunity to participate in important conversations and decision-making in real-time. By placing youth on committees and listening sessions, providing introductions to City leaders, and offering educational field trips. Equipping youth with the ability to strategically navigate their own path through self-awareness and paying attention to their surroundings.

The Insight to Foresight Program has been a season of growth, learning, and community engagement. Through various events and initiatives, our youth have gained valuable skills, made meaningful contributions to their community, and developed a stronger sense of self and purpose. We are proud of their achievements and look forward to continuing this transformative journey.

Program Overview & Mission

Insight to Foresight is a comprehensive youth development initiative by The Foundation, designed to empower at-risk youth through mentorship, leadership skills enhancement, job skill development, and community engagement. Our mission is to provide court-involved youth and those at risk of becoming involved with the tools and support necessary to build a brighter future, fostering transformation, resilience, and hope. By engaging youth in structured activities and providing positive role models, we aim to reduce recidivism and promote positive community connections.

Our Favorite Highlights

Weekly Development Classes with Guest Speakers

Every week, our development classes feature guest speakers from community organizations and mentors who share their expertise and experiences. These sessions cover various topics, including leadership, career development, and personal growth. Guest speakers from AKIN, NEXT, and VPD provide valuable insights and inspire youth to pursue their goals with confidence and determination.

Community Service Projects

Our youth participants spearheaded community service projects, teaching them the importance of giving back and caring for their community.

Animal Food and Item Donation: Collected and donated animal food and items to PAWS Freedom Tails and the Humane Society for Southwest Washington.
Community Cleanup and Graffiti Removal: Organized efforts to clean up local parks and neighborhoods, removing graffiti and litter, and fostering a cleaner, safer community.

Trip to The Columbian and Student Job Shadow Placement

Participants visited The Columbian newspaper, where they learned about journalism and media. This experience included a behind-the-scenes tour and discussions with journalists and editors. Additionally, some students had the opportunity to participate in a job shadow placement, gaining hands-on experience in the field of journalism and understanding the day-to-day operations of a newspaper.
