Giving While Receiving: A December Holiday Recap

December was a season of giving, connection, and care at The Foundation WA. Throughout the month, our youth, staff, volunteers, and community partners came together to serve neighbors, share meals, and support families during the holiday season. From youth-led acts of gratitude to holiday food distributions and gift giveaways, each moment reflected our commitment to showing up for our community with dignity and compassion.

Giving Tuesday

On Giving Tuesday, our youth led the way by giving back to the community in a meaningful and thoughtful way. With beverages generously provided by Amazon, youth participants delivered energy drinks, sparkling water, sodas, and more to local police and fire stations throughout Vancouver as a thank-you for their service.

We are proud of our young people for stepping up, showing gratitude, and recognizing those who serve our community every day. Their actions reflect the power of youth leadership and community care.

Giving Thanks Together & Holiday Hot Plate

Throughout the holiday season, we brought neighbors together through our Thanksgiving meal and Holiday Hot Plate giveaways, serving a total of 170 hot meals to community members.

These moments were about more than food. They were about connection, warmth, and ensuring everyone felt seen and supported during the holidays. We extend our sincere thanks to Mayor Anne, Mark Matthias, and their team for showing up and standing alongside our community. Their support helped make these gatherings possible.

Youth Holiday Giveaway

Our Youth Holiday Giveaway brought families together as we distributed shoes, toys, clothing, hygiene items, and essential supplies to children in our community.

Watching youth select items they needed and loved was a powerful reminder of why this work matters. We are grateful to every family who joined us and helped make the evening full of care, dignity, and connection.

We extend a special thank you to SWACH, Molina Healthcare, The Moore Wright Group, and Rebecca Kersting for their generosity and partnership in making this giveaway possible. Because of this collective support, we were able to meet real needs and spread joy throughout the holiday season.
