While serving his sentence, Demeko made the decision to change the course of his life. He began by earning his GED, which sparked a hunger for education and self-improvement.

Although formal schooling opportunities were limited, he committed himself to programs that reshaped his way of thinking. Over the years, Demeko has completed:

  • Parallel Community Orientation

  • Moral Reconation Therapy & Mentorship

  • Standardized Stress & Anger Management

  • Certified Washroom Technician

  • Beginning and Apprentice Beekeeper Programs

  • Certificate of Proficiency (1,500 work hours)

  • Redemption Self-Awareness & Mentorship

  • Acquired Communication Skills

  • Makin’ It Work Job Program

  • Long Distance Dads

He has also excelled in Toastmasters International, winning competitions that further strengthened his public speaking and leadership skills.

Today, Demeko actively mentors young individuals within his facility, helping them navigate a confusing environment and make positive choices. Upon release, he hopes to continue this work and use his experiences to uplift and guide others.
